CEIRS RECEIVES AN AWARD!

Dr. George Matejka, president of the CEIRS' Board of Trustees, accepted the "Rebecca Adler Community Partner Award" at a ceremony on May 22, 2011 at the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church.

The award is presented annually by InterAct Cleveland to an organization that "has significantly contributed to building relationships across diverse religious traditions though it is not currently an organiztaional memer of InterAct.   CEIRS has been an outstanding example of interreligious engagement through its various interreligious and ecumenical programs and initiatives."

At the celebration, CEIRS was particularly commended for the six-month program called "Abrahamic Traditions," that featured a panel composed of a Pastor, a Rabbi, and an Imam.  A kosher dinner each month preceded a discussion by the panel of practices in each tradition, such as food, almsgiving, prayer, sacred texts, study and hospitality.   InterAct also cited the recent course on the Book of Ruth presented by Rabbi Klein in cooperation with Ursuline College.

The Giving Spirit

CEIRS can only continue its work because of the generous contributions of its sponsors and friends.

Besides money, we are also in need of a digital video projector, since some of our sites do not have one available.

We also have need of contributions to our scholarship fund so that we can reduce tuition for those in need who would really like to participate in some of our courses.  If you wish to donate or to set up a fund, please contact the Dean or Administrator at the number below.
